Britax marathon how tall rear facing

And one cool thing about the Radian RXT is that it can be collapsed and carried as a backpack. But what does that do to its crash sturdiness? And neither do you, frankly. The downsides? There are several. Third, while the Diono Radian RXT can be used for ten years as a booster, it can only be used for eight years as a car seat.

The biggest disadvantage to the Radian, though, is its lack of an easy installation system. Neither of the Pria models are good from birth: The Pria 85 accommodates children from lbs, and the Pria 70 can accommodate children between lbs.

Older kids outgrow the Extend2Fit when they reach lbs. The Extend2Fit has 6 recline positions and 10 headrest positions, and includes an extendable panel which is supposed to provide extra leg room. Like the Marathon ClickTight, this seat can be used for ten years. Most likely, the replacements are the ClickTight car seats. Just remember that since Britax has retired the car seats, the availability of replacement parts may be limited.

Even if you found a new Pavilion seat for sale, the Marathon ClickTight would still be the better deal. The main reason? The Evenflo Triumph LX has a level indicator showing whether the seat is installed at the correct angle, as well as an easy harness adjust system. However, one customer said the knobs were difficult to turn, making harness adjustment incredibly difficult.

Also, other customers disagreed, and said the knobs were very easy to use. The ProRIDE is also half an inch wider than the Marathon ClickTight, which may pose a problem for parents who need to place three safety seats side by side in the back row. Personally, I wish all car seats had such an indicator. Rear-facing customers were especially likely to have difficulty.

The Graco My Ride 65 is a sturdy, safe car seat offering color-coded LATCH straps for each belt path, as well as an infant insert designed to accommodate smaller babies. Graco is recalling certain Graco My Ride 65 convertible child restraints, models , , , , , , , and In the event of a crash, the child seat webbing may not adequately restrain the child.

Graco will notify owners, and dealers will provide consumers with a replacement harness, free of charge. The recall is expected to begin July 17, Owners may contact Graco customer service at Probably, Britax retired these seats because they replaced them with the Marathon ClickTight. Bear in mind that although you can still buy replacement parts for the G3, it expires after either six or seven years.

Also, do not buy car seats second hand. This task can be accomplished with your baby in the seat for quick adjustments every time. The buckle and chest clip above left are somewhat stiff, like all of the Britax options. However, you can work them with one hand if you need to and they are probably stiff to help prevent older children from using them. There is a pull strap at the foot of the base to tighten the harness, and it loosens with a push of the button above the ClickTight emblem above right.

Both work well, and the strap doesn't require exceptional strength to use. The tether hides in a plastic pocket of its own above left for a self-contained unit. The user manual is kept under the fabric on the seatback with a tab label. This location is handy and out of the reach of children, but it could get messy if there are spills or someone gets sick. The cover of the Marathon comes off in four pieces must be hand washed only. Britax is pretty serious about this point as the manual has bold red letters telling you not to machine wash.

It also must be line-dried, so you'll want to plan before washing it. The Marathon ClickTight is a high-quality product with impressive quality and comfort. While this is the lower-level ClickTight, it is still significantly nicer than much of the competition above left. With durable materials in a closed design, which works as expected, it is hard to find fault with this car seat.

This option has less padding and thinner headrest than the other ClickTight options in this review, but it is well-made, and the fabric is soft. The smooth full contained seat above right gives the Marathon a sleek and clean overall look. The bottom of the seat has a rubber rim to help stabilize it, and there are no rough edges that could dent or damage your vehicle seat.

The Marathon is somewhat heavy, as are all of the ClickTight products we reviewed. It weighs This car seat is not the best option for parents looking to carry their seat or who plan to use it in the city on public transportation. The Marathon measures If you need to fit multiple people or safety seats in one row, this could be a contender depending on your car. It is extremely difficult to unlatch and move the car seat. The friction lock on the side of the seat is incredibly difficult to loosen. Which makes the latches nearly impossible to release from the car properly. Especially with my man-mits. Britax did this for one reason and one reason only. To save money. I am not a fan of that feature. Do you think, pragmatically, that the Marathon is safer, or at 62 lbs will most children be out of a convertible seat anyway and into a booster?

This could provide a lesser margin of safety when compared to other models subjected to the same test protocol. As required of all car seats sold in the U. The federal standard is designed to ensure an essential level of crash protection.

Given the results for the Britax Boulevard ClickTight, we believe there are better choices that could provide a greater margin of safety in certain crash conditions similar to those simulated in our tests. This model is easily confused with the Boulevard G4 model built on a different platform.

The Britax Boulevard ClickTight performs Excellent in our ease of use and forward-facing fit to vehicle tests. Hi Alan. Hello, I have a marathon clicktight for my 2 year old. Does this mean the top of the shell of the seat or the top of the adjustable center piece? Brittany, the top of the center adjusting piece. Everything got pretty wet, but we dried everything best we could and set it in the sun for the day.

Could you tell me if the straps need to be replaced or not? The harness straps are fine. Just make sure the straps are thoroughly dry before you use the seat again. Hi, Just purchased two of these Marathon CT because they seemed like the smarter move than the simpler Marathon model. My kids are chunky, 10mo at 25lbs and 34mo at 43lbs and there is no way that crotch strap is going to cut it!

My baby already seems small in it and my toddler has the buckles totally digging into her thighs. Does the G4. I currently have a graco 4ever but the straps are hard to tighten so I got this one as my son is transitioning out of his infant carrier…. Also the shoulder height seems really short, my toddler is within a inch of the dotted red line already…maybe my kids are just not sized for this seat?!

Any updates coming for this seat? Hi Sara. The Marathon CT harness slot heights are about the same as the G4. The crotch strap length does bother some kids and not others, so it is completely a kid-by-kid issue.

Thanks for doing this review, it is very helpful! Hi Emma. We have 2 Marathon Clicktights twin 5 year old grandsons. Am i doing something wrong? Thank you. Hi Don, this is a common issue, unfortunately, with the ClickTight models. If you cannot get the LATCH strap to loosen — call Britax customer service and ask for their blessing to cut the strap.

That will mean you have to use seatbelt from now on but you probably want to do that anyway. My thumbs hurt for 2 days after that. But, in the end we avoided having to cut the strap. Good luck! You know how Britax goes on about varying layers of side impact protection.

This being on the cheaper and more affordable end my question is, is the shell of the carseat the only part that has the EPP foam? Does the head rest that adjust a tleast have some or is it just a plastic piece with a cover? This concerns me, I know the boulevard advertises that it does, but maybe they just mean more? Can someone please explain this? Thanks, Karen. Karen, the Marathon CT has just the flat headrest. The shells of the ClickTight seats are blow-molded, which allows energy-absorption.

I happen to have one and have seen nothing on this anywhere. My son is almost 3 and about 35 pounds. He says the crotch buckle hurts his private. Is there a fix or is there no way to get even close to your 65 pounds worth out of the Marathon? Are you using the outer buckle setting? Is he still in diapers or pull-ups? Are your measurements more accurate? Wish uppababy made a convertible already. Not looking to be moving the car seat frequently.
